1. Statutory information
This website is operated by The PTI. The PTI™ is a trading name of The Professional Teaching Institute (formerly The Prince’s Teaching Institute), a registered charity (1116224) and a company limited by guarantee (05910443) registered in England & Wales.
2. Definitions
The word "Site" shall mean this website and the phrase "the Service" shall mean the services and facilities made available through the Site.
The word “Visitor” shall mean any person accessing, browsing and using the Site and all people who have registered to receive a periodic Newsletter via e-mail or notification of forthcoming PTI events by e-mail.
The word “Member” shall mean any person who has registered on the Members (Staffroom) section of the Site.
The word “Terms” shall mean these Terms of Use, Conditions and Privacy Policy.
The word “Content” shall mean all text, files, images, graphics, audio clips, video clips and other materials on the Site and the word “Marks” shall mean all trademarks, logos and company names on the Site.
The word “Event” shall mean an event organised by the PTI or an affiliated organisation which can be booked on this Site
The word "Booking Form" shall mean the series of web pages on this Site for the booking of a place at an Event.
The word “Contract" shall mean any contract for the purchase of a reserved place at an Event made between you and the PTI.
The word “Confirmation” means the message sent to you by the PTI confirming your successful reservation of a place at an Event.
3. Your acceptance
In order to use this Site you must agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully. By using and/or visiting this Site, whether as a Visitor or as a Member, you signify your assent to these Terms.
If you do not agree to the Terms, or any subsequent modifications of them, please do not access, browse or otherwise use this site.
Notwithstanding any Terms, the PTI reserves the right, without notice and in its sole discretion, to terminate your right to use this Site, and to block or prevent future access to and use of the Site.
4. Terms of use
Your use of the Site and any other website operated by the PTI, and accessed by you through the Site, shall be governed by these Terms, unless express provision is made to the contrary by the PTI in writing.
5. Modification of Terms
The PTI reserves the right to change or modify any of the terms and conditions contained in these Terms or any policy or guideline of the Site, at any time and in its sole discretion. Any changes or modification will be effective upon posting of the revisions and notice of such changes on the Site. Your continued use of this Site following the posting of its changes or modifications will constitute your acceptance of such changes or modifications. Therefore, you should frequently review the Terms and applicable policies from time-to-time.
6. Copyright and Marks
All Content on the Site, except all Member Submissions (as defined below), is protected by copyright (and/or other similar rights) owned by or licensed to the PTI.
The Marks on the Site are trade marks of the PTI, and affiliated organisations.. No use of these Marks is to be made except for the purpose of referring to the PTI or its associated brands lawfully and in good faith only.
Every effort has been made to trace the copyright holders and gain permission for use of Content on this Site. The PTI would be grateful for any information concerning copyright of non-attributed materials and we will withdraw them immediately on copyright holder's request, if appropriate. 7. Newsletter and Events notification
In order to receive the PTI e-mail Newsletter and/or notification by e-mail of forthcoming events, you must submit your e-mail address to the PTI. You are fully responsible for all communications that are received by your e-mail account or anyone reading or accessing messages sent to your e-mail account.
By using the Site, you confirm that you operate security procedures to prevent the unauthorised use of your e-mail account and that you agree to notify the PTI immediately of any unauthorised use of your e-mail account.
8. Member Service and Member Submissions and Postings
A. Eligibility
The Member Service and Staffroom section of the Site is open to all practising teachers who have attended a PTI event. At its sole discretion, now or in the future, the PTI may nominate additional persons to be eligible to use the Member Service.
B. Term and Termination
This Agreement shall remain in force while you remain a Member. You may terminate your membership at any time, for any reason, by following the instructions in the Staffroom section. The PTI in its absolute discretion reserves the right to terminate your membership at any time, without warning. Even after membership is terminated, these Terms shall remain in effect.
C. E-mail
In order to use the Member section of the Service or upload and/or make postings to the Site, you must submit your e-mail address to the PTI. You are fully responsible for all postings that are received by subscribers to your e-mail account or anyone reading or accessing messages sent to your e-mail account.
D. Password
In order to use the Member section of the Service or make postings to the Site, you must submit a password to the PTI. You confirm that you will not disclose that password to any third party and that you operate security procedures to prevent the unauthorised disclosure of your password. You agree to notify the PTI immediately if you suspect any unauthorized use of your membership account or access to your password.
E. Impersonation and spam
You will not use your e-mail account to impersonate any person; and/or to "spam" by posting multiple, frequent and/or annoying messages.
F. Member Submissions
The Site may now or in the future permit the submission of files and postings by you and other Members (“Member Submissions”) and the hosting, sharing and/or publishing of such Member Submissions.
i) Intellectual Property Rights of Member Submissions.
The PTI does not claim any ownership rights in the text, files, images, graphics, audio clips, video clips and other materials (“Content”) that you post on the Site. After posting your Content to the Site, you continue to retain all ownership rights in such Content, and you continue to have the right to use your Content in any way you choose. By posting any Content on or through the Member Submissions you hereby grant to the PTI a license to use, modify, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce and distribute such Content on and through the Service and via such other formats or publications as the PTI sees fit for any purpose . This license is non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable and royalty-free, and may be sublicensed in the UK and worldwide.
You warrant that you own the Content posted by you on the Site and that the posting of your Content does not violate the intellectual property rights (including without limitation copyright, design rights, trade mark rights or database rights), contract rights, privacy rights, rights of confidentiality, publicity rights or any other rights of any person. You agree to allow the reproduction of your Content by other Members for their personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree to pay for all royalties, fees, and any other monies owing any person by reason of any Content posted by you to or through the Service and to indemnify the PTI, its employees and representatives from any and all claims and liabilities (including legal fees) which arise in relation to any use or reproduction of the Content posted by you on the Site.
ii) Prohibited Content
You agree that you will not upload, post, e-mail or otherwise transmit such material that contains content which is harmful, threatening, abusive, vulgar, obscene, harassing, defamatory, offensive (racially, sexually, religiously or ethnically), promotes a political view, infringes the rights of any third party or is otherwise objectionable or unlawful.
You will not upload, post, e-mail or otherwise transmit chain letters, pyramid or money schemes.
You will not upload, post, e-mail or otherwise knowingly or recklessly transmit or distribute any material which contains software viruses or any computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, damage or destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software, hardware or telecommunications equipment.
Material that you upload, post, e-mail or otherwise transmit must not contain links to 'browser bombs" (sites that open up multiple windows) or to sites that contain material which is harmful, threatening, abusive, vulgar, obscene, harassing, defamatory, offensive (racially, sexually, religiously or ethnically), promotes a political view or is otherwise objectionable.
The PTI reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who, in the PTI’s sole discretion, violates the provisions above.
iii) Commercial activities
You agree that you will not use the Site to offer items or services for sale or place advertisements for goods, products or services of third parties, or use the Site for any commercial purposes.
iv) Monitoring and Moderating
The PTI reserves the right to monitor and moderate Member Submissions to ensure the continued good reputation of the PTI and that submissions are appropriate. You consent to the PTI monitoring and moderating your posting prior to and following distribution.
v) Content Objections
If you object to the publication of any Member Submission placed on the Site please let us know by contacting us on julia.bagguley@ptieducation.org.
If you breach any of the provisions set out in the foregoing clauses the PTI may (without prejudice to its other rights) immediately terminate your use of the Service.
The PTI shall have the right (but not the obligation) at its sole discretion to refuse to upload, or remove, any Content that is posted on the Site without the need to give any reason for doing so.
9. Limitations on use
All Content on the Site including Member Submissions and e-mails you read and receive from the PTI may be used only for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to modify, copy, reproduce, retransmit, distribute, sell, publish, broadcast, create derivative works from Content on the Site (or any portion thereof). All rights are hereby expressly reserved.
10. Legal disclaimer
The PTI seeks to ensure that all the material on this Site is accurate and up-to-date. Nonetheless, the content of the Site, including Member Submissions, is provided without any warranty or responsibility. You should not make significant decisions based on the information provided on this Site without obtaining appropriate independent advice. The Site is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without any warranties of any kind and the PTI does not accept any liability arising from any inaccuracy or omission in the information or interruption in availability.
11. Links
This Site may have links to other websites. The PTI is not responsible for the contents of, nor does it warrant the accuracy or reliability of any material appearing on, any linked website. A link on this Site to another website does not imply any kind of endorsement or recommendation of that website.
12. Data Protection
The PTI is notified under and will process your data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and with our Privacy Policy which can be accessed from the Home Page. The information you provide will be processed on databases and/or spreadsheets. This may involve the Institute disclosing your details to regulatory bodies/ and or third parties. Any queries in respect of data protection should be addressed to data@ptieducation.org.
13. Monitoring, cookies and viruses
Except for Member Submissions, this Site does not use any form of intrusive monitoring.
The Site uses cookies, including persistent cookies, to store Visitor and Member preferences and to record session information and to enhance your use of the Site. You may set your web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some features of the Site may not function properly if the ability to accept cookies is disabled.
14. Terms of Purchase
The Site includes the facility to book online for Events. Your Contract with the PTI will be governed by these Terms and Conditions.
A. Booking process
Completion of the Event Registration Form (including for the avoidance of doubt the provision of your credit or debit card details) shall constitute an offer by you to book a place at an Event online subject to these terms and conditions.
Upon electronic receipt of the Event Registration Form, the Site will check whether you have completed correctly all mandatory parts of the Booking Form. Upon confirmation of these details, the PTI will, as instructed by you either:
- charge your credit or debit card accordingly and send you a Confirmation by e-mail which shall constitute its acceptance of your booking and will guarantee you a reserved place(s) at the Event. If the PTI receives a prompt notification that the Confirmation was not delivered successfully, it will use reasonable endeavours to notify you of your booking by other means.
- Issue to your institution an invoice for all of the Course Fee(s). You have the opportunity to include any purchase order numbers on the Event Registration Form. The PTI will acknowledge your booking by emailing you a confirmation that this invoice will be issued.
By submitting an invoice request to us, you are acknowledging that you have received authorisation for this expenditure from the relevant person(s) at your institution
The prices and availability of places at an Event are specified on the Site. These details are based on the best available information and the PTI is not obliged to conclude any Contract on these terms.
You are entirely responsible for entering the details correctly on the Event Registration Form. You warrant that all details supplied by you are true and accurate. If there are any changes to your details once your booking is concluded then it is your responsibility to inform the PTI by contacting info@ptieducation.org.
Where a person makes a booking on behalf of a third party or parties, that person accepts these terms and conditions on behalf of the third party or parties and is responsible for all payments due.
Booking services with the PTI are only available to persons who are at least 18 years of age. By submitting a Booking Form you warrant and confirm to the PTI that you are 18 years of age or over.
The PTI reserves the right to place restrictions on the number of places ordered by a school or schools.
B. Pricing
The prices of places for all Events that are not free are displayed on the Site and are exclusive of VAT (if chargeable), unless stated otherwise.
C. Terms of Payment
Places paid for in full at the time of booking will confirm the reservation of a place
If an invoice is requested, payment of the course fee is due in full 14 days from the date of the invoice, or before the course start date, whichever is the sooner. Any places paid for by invoice will only be guaranteed on receipt by the PTI of cleared funds.
The PTI Affiliation Fee for Subject Leadership Programme, School Leadership Programme and Primary Leadership Programme is non-refundable.
D. Cancellations and alterations
If you cannot attend an event you have a confirmed place at, you can transfer your place to another individual. Places can be transferred to another individual at any time with no charge up to and including the day of the event, and should be requested in writing to events@ptieducation.org.
If you are unable to attend an Event, and unable to transfer your place to another individual, the PTI will provide a refund limited to the price of the booking minus any credit card/debit card fees payable by the PTI to card issuers, provided that you notify the PTI, by emailing events@ptieducation.org, within the following notice periods:
- Summer School and all other residential events: not less than 21 days prior to the first day of the event
- Courses that consist of multiple one-day events (e.g. New Teacher Subject Days): not less than 10 days' notice before the first day of the event.
- All other events: not less than 10 days' notice before the event.
Otherwise, once we have acknowledged your booking, you will remain liable for the full fee should you wish to cancel your course.
The PTI’s courses are constantly updated and improved and we reserve the right to alter any of the courses’ content without prior notice. The PTI will make every effort to provide the services as specified, but, if for any reason beyond its control it fails to do so, neither the PTI nor its directors or employees shall be liable for any resulting loss or damage.
For the avoidance of doubt, the terms above do not apply to any booking fees that have been advertised as non-refundable booking fees.
Should the PTI be obliged to cancel an Event, it will provide a refund limited to the price of the booking.
E. Covid-19 bookings policy
Where face to face events do not go ahead due to restrictions created by Covid 19, the PTI will either:
- Where possible, offer alternative arrangements in the form of a virtual event (this will not apply to residential events), or
- Offer a re-scheduled date as an alternative to the original date

Depending on circumstances and the event, the PTI may offer partial or full refunds limited to the price of the booking.
15. Liability
The PTI - to the extent permissible by law - excludes all liability which may arise from your use of or reliance on the content of this Site or any linked website.
16. Governing law
These terms and conditions of use, and your use of the Site and/or the Service, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the English Courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction in connection with all matters relating to these terms and conditions of use.
