Sedbergh Primary School aimed to deepen staff knowledge and skills in fieldwork, ensuring tangible ideas from the PTI Hub could be quickly implemented. This led to a staff meeting focused on practical fieldwork, where teachers engaged in activities such as soundscapes, emotion mapping, and environmental quality surveys within the school grounds. Inspired by the training, the school ran a whole-school Geography and Maths theme week to demonstrate the close link between the two subjects, resulting in staff integrating new fieldwork skills into their long-term planning and showing evidence of practical techniques in class books.

The initiative drastically raised the profile of Geography and pupil enthusiasm across the school. During the theme week, every class undertook dedicated fieldwork: Year 1/2 conducted a traffic survey using a speed gun with a police officer; Year 3/4 worked with the Yorkshire Dales National Park on navigation, map reading, and measuring the age of trees; and Year 5/6 surveyed local residents on Market Day about vehicle usage. The school also used networking from the PTI day to borrow VR headsets, immersing students in environments like biomes and oceans, a feature pupils called "awesome". Overall, 100% of pupils interviewed reported enjoying the theme week and could confidently discuss the fieldwork they completed.
