Music is the second biggest export in the UK.

Use this information as a motivational tool in the classroom to highlight the importance of music education.

The ‘job’ of a composer is to concentrate on the form that they give their compositions. It is the form and organisation of the components of a composition that creates the 'thrill' when listening to a piece of music.

Discuss with your pupils the importance of structure as a composition tool in evoking emotion through music.

Nick Jones, Head of Music at Regent High School, was inspired to suggest this teaching idea after hearing Howard Goodall CBE (an award winning composer) lecture on 'The Art of composition' at our Composition through the key stages CPD day.

Schools Programme members and course attendees can download the resources from the event in the PTI Staffroom.
